Australian Reptile Centre Education Conservation and Rescue - We need to care! Sponsorship, what it’s all about By helping with the costs of caring for the Centres ever increasing range of reptiles and other unique Australian fauna, you have the opportunity to contribute towards our efforts to save these wonderful creatures. What your donation goes toward Reptiles are amongst the most feared groups of animals to the average Australian. It is important that this misconception is corrected and that we can view these animals in a more favoured light. The Armadale Reptile Centre offers the opportunity for visitors to experience a safe close encounter with these misunderstood creatures. Reptile Rescue Each year the Armadale Reptile Centre receives many requests for their Reptile Rescue service, from people needing unwanted reptile visitors removed from their properties. Most reptiles are returned to safe havens after being carefully checked to ensure they are in good health. On occasions some of these animals have been injured or are in poor condition and require intensive care. Hospital and incubation facility The Armadale Reptile Centre has the need to establish a hospital/incubation facility, not only to tend to these injured animals, but also hatch reptile eggs laid by gravid females brought to the centre and those laid by display animals. It is extremely important that we make every attempt to reproduce the animals within our care. This becomes even more urgent when dealing with animals that are rare or likely to become extinct. With greater resources we can create suitable breeding enclosures and possibly participate in the endangered breeding programmes, thus greatly improving any breeding potential which will contribute to the survival of the species. Not just Reptiles The Armadale Reptile Centre also has within its care some of Australia’s vulnerable native fauna. One of which is the Baudins white tailed black cockatoo. Education should always remain one of the highest priorities of all wild life exhibitors. This can best be addressed through our children and by the development of quality worksheets and educational packages, and only then can we be assured of the best possible results Types of animal sponsorship
