SNAKE SIGHTINGS

Most people will panic if they see a snake, large of small, in their house or backyard. A clear understanding of a snake’s character is important. The following questions and answers (of people who have killed snakes) offer some insight to a snakes’ behaviour.
Q: How close was I to the snake when I first saw it? Was I close enough to kill it?
A: I was only a couple of feet away or I walked past it, it was quite close.

Q: Did the snake strike at me when I was that close?
A: The snake was just lying there, doing nothing.

Q: Did the snake try and get away after the first blow?
A: After I hit it with the shovel it tried to get away.

Q: Had the snake tried to bite anyone or do anything threatening?
A: It wasn’t doing anything, just sunbathing or maybe moving along. It only became aggressive when I tried to kill it.

These responses reinforce the motto:
“If we leave a snake alone and just observe it, most times it will go away”
