A constrictor of Australia’s desert regions, the Stimson’s is probably the smallest python in the world. The scales are smooth, light brown to yellowish-brown above with a contrasting pattern of dark brown blotches. The sides are paler with a white or cream belly. |

This large snake has a triangular head distinct from its neck, vertical pupils and heat-sensitive pits in the lips to detect warm-blooded prey. Colouring varies from pale to dark brown with blackish blotches, sometimes with cross-bands. |
